When we think of Peranakan cuisine, our minds often drift to Melaka. However, it's not always feasible to make the trip, especially with just an hour for lunch.
Fortunately, I discovered Peranakan Place at One Utama. Despite the lunch crowd, the ambiance was captivating, beautifully adorned with Chinese New Year decorations, setting the mood for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
1. Nyonya Fried Chicken
Fried to perfection, this dish is a hit for all ages. It can be enjoyed with a spoonful of rice or as a standalone snack.
2. Lady Finger (Bendi)
A personal favorite! When the server recommended this, I eagerly nodded. The dish was exquisite, a testament to the importance of using fresh, young okra.
3. Beef Rendang
This savory dish, perfect with rice, offers the right amount of gravy to complement its rich flavors.
4.Onion Omelet — A non-spicy option, this simple yet soothing and delicious omelet pairs perfectly with the other dishes.
Overall, the dishes were fantastic. I look forward to returning and exploring their variety of noodle dishes next time.
