How can you visit Penang without having fried oysters or oysters? On a mission to find a good one, especially after having a few disappointing versions before, we were pleasantly surprised to discover Popo Fried Oyster.
And honestly, we fell in love with it. We arrived slightly late and, unfortunately, they had already closed for their afternoon break. Thankfully, they were kind enough to let us take away our order.
So, we took the fried oyster and oyster omelet away and ended up eating them by the roadside.
What an experience, I must say! And sometimes, the best Penang food experiences are the most unexpected ones.
1. Fried Oyster
Surprisingly, this was really good! The oysters were fresh, juicy and plump, which made all the difference. Dip them into the mayonnaise, and you have a pretty addictive combination. Definitely one of the better fried oysters in Penang that we’ve tried.
2. Oyster Omelette
The oyster omelette was the eggy version rather than the starchy type. The egg was fragrant and nicely coated the oysters, while a generous amount of spring onions added freshness to every bite. Adding the chili and the combination of eggy omelette, fresh oysters, and spring onions, every bite was incredibly satisfying.
Will I Return?
Certainly!
