Have You Tried Egg Tarts in Foo Hing Dim Sum, Puchong?

It’s a public holiday. We wanted to do so many things, from trying the dim sum in Foo Hing Dim Sum restaurant to walking in the park and running some house chores. We then decided to combine some of the activities so that we were not drained off by the end of the day. Hence, we tapao-ed some dim sum and had them in the Putrajaya Park, and also on the road.

Oh well, the beauty of multitasking.

Many have been praising the dim sum in Foo Hing, especially their egg tarts which is a must to try. Well, I tried both the Macau Style Egg Tarts as well as the normal Egg Tarts, and the verdict is... see below. Overall, I would say the dim sum spread is pretty good, however, we got quite ‘jelak’ easily, as some of the dishes share the same fillings.

So, what did we have?

1. Macau Style Egg Tarts

Many have wowed on the Macau Style Egg Tarts. Personally, it is not bad but I find it a bit sweet. Certain parts of the tarts were slightly overburnt. For those who have not tried it, you can give it a try but I'd rather go for their classic egg tarts.

2. Classic Egg Tarts

Similar to Hong Kong Style Egg tarts, I prefer this the most. Comes with a flaky outer shell, with creamy yet firm egg custard in the center. If you would like your egg tarts to be flakier, you can simply put them in the air fryer for several minutes, and you can eat them like a king. Nevertheless, eating the egg tarts as it is, is also good enough. It's not that sweet and I absolutely love it!

3. Fried FishBalls and Steamed Siew Mai

How can you not order siew mai when you are in a dim sum restaurant? I like it because it has prawns, meat and of course, bits of mushroom to enhance the flavor. However, my partner dislikes it because he thinks that the mushroom taste is a bit too overpowering. As for the fried fish balls, well, it is just fishballs.

4. Glutinous Rice Ball

One of my favorites! This is heavenly! While it is slightly oily, you wouldn't want to miss it. Chewy yet crispy, soft yet fragrant. And this is surprisingly delicious.

5. Crispy Yam Puff (Woo Kok)

This is not bad too, compared with some other dim sum restaurants. The mashed yam is sweet and fragrant while I find the taste of the stuffed meat and veggies is rather similar to the fillings of Glutinous Rice Ball. Nevertheless, the woo kok is cooked in perfection, with a spider web crust layer on the outside.

Overall, I was glad that I chose to take away, instead of dine-in. There were so many people queueing to dine in when I collect my food. Oh mine.
