Feng Wang Fu (FWF) Hotpot at Fahrenheit 88, Kuala Lumpur

Nothing beats the fun of having hotpot with your girlfriends at FWF Hotpot while having long conversations about everything and anything. That was a fun night, for sure, albeit that we got to wait for an hour, but it is certainly worth it, given that it is strategically located in the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, in specific, at the side of Fahrenheit 88.

We were greeted with an astounding entrance decoration with wooden furniture and a golden dragon head, which was a perfect setting for group photos – a resemblance as if you are in Chengdu, China. We took a few and we were ushered to our table.

With the digital wave that has soared lately, all we need to do was to order through an iPad, except the soup selection where the servers would explain them so that you pick the right one according to your favourites. There are four types of soup base, from its signature spicy soup, mushroom soup, tomato soup to pork bone soup. We decided to go with 3 soup bases which were the spicy ones (that’s a must), mushroom soup and tomato soup. Among these, I prefer the spicy and mushroom soup.

Thereafter, go ahead and pick your food selection. Tick, tick, and tick... scroll to the next page, tick, tick, and tick and now to the third page. Tick, tick, tick. The menu has a wide selection of meat, vegetables, seafood, noodles, and side dishes.

“Stop, let’s review our selection again to make sure we don’t over order.” At some points, it was quite hard to choose which one to remove from our order chit and we just decided to close one eye and hit the “Submit” button.

Woohoo, we made the right decision ever. It was never enough when comes to hotpot. Slurrrpp!!!

A slice of bread was given for you to dip the cooked food in order to get rid of the excess oil which will give you the full flavor of the soup.

Vegetables and loads of mushrooms :)

Lotus root and meat

When comes to dessert, we opted for Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake, and it was a best decision ever! Crispy at the outside and chewy in the inside – a perfect dish with a tinge of sweetness after a sizzling meal.

The final bill came up to RM301.00 including all the taxes. Overall, we enjoyed it much and the soup base made the dining experience a pleasant one. Just imagine the sight and smell of it.

Ambiance: For family and friends

Price: $$$$

Food: Non-halal, Chinese

Service: Moderate

Verdict: Go all out and try them all! Do not forget to order Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cake, no regret.
