Authentic Japanese Food at Jyu Raku Restaurant, Subang Jaya

It has been a while since we went for a proper dining. As August was a celebration month for us, we decided to pamper ourselves by treating our tummies to some authentic yet delicious Japanese food.

The name that kept popping out during our search was no other than Jyu Raku restaurant. Located at SS15 which is opposite Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Jyu Raku is the epitome of a contemporary restaurant combined with Japanese heritage.

While they serve a myriad of Japanese food from sashimi to teppanyaki, sushi, menrui (noodles), shokuji (rice), what stole our attention was Wagyu (Japanese beef) as well as its affordable Bento lunch set that comes with so much of varieties.

It was quite hard to choose since everything looked so good. Needless to say, we were glad that we made the right choice by ordering:

1. Wagyu Tataki 75g (Thinly Sliced Surfaced Grilled Japanese Beef) (RM98)

Hero dish of the day! So beautiful in presentation and taste-wise – voila! It was so hard to find a delectable medium rare wagyu beef in Malaysia. We tasted one of the best Wagyus in Japan but really, it was not easy to find a good one in Malaysia. Though this Wagyu Tataki cannot really beat the standard of the ones we had in Japan, still, it is still one of the best that we have ever eaten in Malaysia. So much worth it! We will certainly come back for this again.

2. Tori Teriyaki Set (Grilled Chicken Teriyaki set with Sashimi and Rice) (RM 49.00)

This set comes with a plate of grilled chicken teriyaki. It also comes with pickles, mini salad, a bowl of white rice, Japanese steamed egg (Chawanmushi), Miso soup, and fruits. As we kind of wanted to try their sashimi, we opted for their sashimi and rice set which only cost RM49.00 – what a steal!

What I love the most is of course the chicken itself, but the sashimi (salmon, tuna, and kampachi) deserves its credit too. So fresh and literally, they melt on their own when you put them in your mouth.

In any case, if you think the portion to have both sashimi and rice is too big for one, you can choose to have your mains with either rice (which is usually slightly cheaper), or sushi.

3.  3. Pan-fried Garlic Rice (RM10.00)

You may wonder why I would order this. Although garlic rice may be a simple dish to cook for many, it is not easy to get the right taste and smell... But for this bowl of garlic rice, the smell started to linger before it even reached our table. Just imagine that we could smell the fragrance of the rice even though we had our masks on. Delicious!

4. Unagi Stamina Roll (Roasted Eel Roll with Omelet and Avocado) (RM32.00)

And how can you not order sushi when you are in a Japanese restaurant? Despite that we were feeling almost full, we mustered our courage and challenged ourselves to a plate of Unagi Stamina Roll. When the sushi was presented to us, our hands could not help but pick this sushi up. Just a quick dip into their wasabi and soy sauce, and then put them in the mouth (though the tummy refuses to accept anymore)... Voila!

Just writing this blog post makes me want to visit them again. The restaurant is always packed hence, it is best to make a reservation before you head there especially if you are going there for dinner.
