Wanton noodles but make it “atas”. Well-known for its traditional strong coffee and handmade buns, Nanyang Cafe brings a refined twist to this classic dish, and to my surprise—it totally delivers.
Let’s talk about theprawn wantons. Served in a petite bowl with five plump pieces, each one bursts with juicy flavor and ocean-fresh sweetness. They’re the kind of wantons that stop the conversation mid-bite. So good, I could’ve easily polished off another bowl.
The noodles come dressed simply but are loaded with umami from a generous topping of prawn roe. Slurpy, savory, and totally kid-approved—always a win.
While waiting, I indulged in a taro and cream cheese bun. It was soft, jiggly, and just the right balance of earthy and rich. The kind of bun that makes you do a little happy dance at the table.
Would I come back?
Absolutely. And next time, I’m diving into more of their menu—because if this is the baseline, I’m excited for what’s next.
