If you’re a ramen lover always on the lookout for authentic flavors and hidden gems, Menya Appare might just be your next favorite spot. I discovered this cozy little restaurant by chance while wandering around The Starling Mall in Damansara Utama, and I’m so glad I did.

From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance transported me straight to Japan. The warm lighting, wooden decor, and the gentle hum of conversation created a welcoming, almost nostalgic vibe—like stumbling into a ramen shop on a quiet Tokyo street.

The menu was a pleasant challenge. Everything looked mouth-watering, and I spent a good few minutes just flipping back and forth between options. From classic tonkotsu ramen to unique specialty bowls, each dish had something tempting to offer.

Eventually, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and ordered a ramen that featured yuzu, topped with a generous amount of onions and spring onions. And I have to say—what a brilliant choice! The broth was light, citrusy, and incredibly fragrant, offering a refreshing twist from the usual rich and heavy ramen flavors. It was unlike anything I’ve tried before, and I loved every spoonful.

Yuzu Shio Ramen 

If you’re someone who prefers to stick with the classics, the Kuro Ramen is a must-try. It’s bold, savory, and deeply satisfying—the kind of bowl that warms you from the inside out. Whether you’re in the mood for something adventurous or traditional, Menya Appare has something for every palate.
