Finding a good Italian restaurant is never difficult in Kuala Lumpur, but finding one that serves comforting Italian food in a warm, inviting setting is a different story. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian dining experience, Stefania Osteria in Damansara Heights is one restaurant that deserves a spot on your list.
Having opened its doors earlier this year, Stefania Osteria has quickly become a favourite among the surrounding neighbourhood and office crowd. Whether it’s a weekday lunch, an after-work dinner, or a weekend gathering, the restaurant is often buzzing with diners enjoying hearty Italian classics.
The moment you step inside, you’ll notice the cosy and elegant interior. The warm lighting, earthy tones and tasteful décor create a welcoming ambience that makes you want to sit back, relax and enjoy your meal. It feels refined without being overly formal, making it suitable for everything from casual lunches to date nights and family gatherings.
Since it was our first visit, we asked the staff for recommendations. Their answer?
With that reassuring response, we decided to simply order whatever caught our attention, and thankfully, we weren’t disappointed.
1. Quattro Formaggi (Four Cheese Pizza)(RM62)
Sometimes, the simplest dishes are the hardest to perfect.
The Quatrro Fromaggi impressed us with its beautifully balanced flavours of buffalo mozzarella, scarmorza, gorgonzola, and taleggio. Rich, creamy and wonderfully cheesy, every bite delivered just the right amount of indulgence without feeling overly heavy. The thin, crispy crust provided the perfect base, allowing the blend of cheeses to shine while remaining light enough to leave room for the rest of the meal. If you’re a cheese lover, this is an easy recommendation.
2. Truffle Fries (RM32)
No Italian meal is complete without something to nibble on while waiting for the mains.
The Truffle Fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and generously coated with aromatic truffle seasoning. They were addictive without being overpowering, making them the perfect appetiser to share around the table.
3. Gamberi Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino (RM58)
If you’re looking for something lighter, the Gamberi Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino is an excellent choice.
The prawns were fresh, plump and cooked just right, swimming in a fragrant garlic-infused sauce that was impossible to resist. Paired with slices of toasted sourdough, every bite was packed with flavour as the bread soaked up every last drop of the delicious sauce.
4. The Signature Pastas
Paccheri alla Scoglio (RM52)
Can't remember this dish name
By the time the pasta dishes arrived, I was honestly too full to do them justice.
However, judging by the presentation alone and more importantly, the glowing reviews from my friends around the table, it was clear why these are among Stefania Osteria’s signature dishes. The generous portions, rich sauces, and freshly prepared pasta certainly looked promising.
Would I return?
Absolutely.
Ambient: 4/5
Price: $$$$
Food: Italian cuisine
Stefania Osteria exceeded my expectations with its cosy ambience, welcoming service and well-executed Italian dishes. While we only sampled a few items during this visit, every dish showcased quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation.
The Four Cheese Pizza, Truffle Fries and Gambas Tapas were all excellent, and judging from what I saw on neighbouring tables, there’s still plenty on the menu worth coming back for.
If you’re searching for a new Italian restaurant in Damansara Heights or simply craving authentic Italian cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, Stefania Osteria is well worth a visit.
