The Butcher's Table, SS2

Guess that we are not slowing down in terms of pampering and treating ourselves with plenty of food as we are about to celebrate Chinese New Year in less than a month. Before treating ourselves to an array of sumptuous Chinese food, we visited The Butcher's Table in SS2 recently - apparently, the concept is somewhat similar to Anne's Elizabeth where you can pick your meat and the chef would fire the dish for you.

1. Mushroom Soup (RM8.00)

Hmm, I was rather disappointed when this bowl of mushroom soup was served on our table. I hardly tasted the mushroom but all I got was some sort of powdery texture, lingering in my mouth. Perhaps, the mushroom soup would taste better if mushroom pieces/chunks were added in plus some bacon, giving the crunchiness upon each sip.

2. Crispy Roast Pork (Full) (RM12.00)

When I had it on my last visit, it was good. However, this time, it wasn't that great. No doubt that the skin was crunchy but the meat that we had contained too much fat and very little lean meat - you can see it from the photo.

3. Butcher's Big Breakfast (RM30.00)

I love Big Breakfast! Comes with pork sausage, pancetta, sautéed shiitake mushroom, baked beans, hashbrowns, grilled tomato, green apple, and a choice of scrambled eggs/sunny side up with toast, you can order it anytime from morning to afternoon. It is just not available for dinner only.

4. Iberico Tomahawk (RM88.00)

Mr Chee wanted to try something different so he opted for Iberico Tomahawk that comes with coleslaw and fries. We waited for 30 minutes. When it was served, we were slightly shocked but I must say that it was the best dish that we had on that day despite that the price was slightly higher. The meat was cooked perfectly, maintaining its juiciness.

All in all, we spent about RM 150.50 including 6% SST - Comparing between Anne's Elizabeth and The Butcher's Table, I would definitely vote for Anne's Elizabeth as Anne's Elizabeth serves more kinds of meat and the food is really good. Nonetheless, if you do not wish to travel far to Cheras, you can visit The Butcher's Table, SS2. Oh ya, you can actually buy the raw meat from them and grill it on your own whenever you want it.
