Visit Hong Kong (Part 1) - What's in Hong Kong Disneyland?

Hong Kong Disneyland is indeed a charm, not just for children but also for people of all ages. I just came back from Hong Kong Disneyland, and I have so much to share with you, very good tips and advice for you if you plan to visit there one.

Hong Kong DIsneyland

I was there in early March. The weather wasn't that hot, except that there were rains. It was quite a breeze, and let me share my top 6 tips here.

1. Opt for Disneyland 2-day passes

Hear me out here. I was there with my family and my gut instinct told me that a one-day pass would be a rush, and the little ones might get tired. So, I opted for a 2-day pass and it was one of the best decisions ever. And you know why? I had the time to play all the rides that I wanted to and participate in all the shows. In fact, I got to witness the fireworks show at 8 PM. The first night was raining, so the experience was compromised. The second day was perfect and I could really watch the whole show.

2. Stay in Disneyland hotel

Disney Hollywood Hotel

Well, some may consider staying outside of the Disneyland hotel, but trust me, logistically, staying nearby was a good choice. There are three Disneyland hotels: Hollywood Hotel, Explorers Lodge, and Disneyland Hotel. Any of these hotels is fine because you will probably spend most of the time in Disneyland. Best of all, there's a shuttle every 10-15 minutes, chauffeuring you to Disneyland and the hotel.

3. Bring light food to Disneyland

Well, there are two reasons for this. First, you save time as you can enjoy the park wholeheartedly, without wasting time to eat in the restaurant. Secondly, you can save money there. Food in Disneyland is pretty expensive. For an ice cream, it costs around HKD 58. Nonetheless, I strongly recommend the turkey leg sold in Hong Kong Disneyland. It's huge and only available there. It is sold at HKD 160. When I say light food, you can bring bread, and biscuits. And not rice. There's a security check before entry.

4. Meet and greet with the characters

Mickey Mouse and Goofy in Hong Kong Disneyland

You will not be able to see all the characters in one single day. For example, during my visit, Mickey wasn't there on my first day. Thankfully, he was there on the second day. I didn't even get to see Donald Duck and Daisy Duck. And here is the tip, if you really want to take photos with characters from Frozen, for instance, then better stay in the World of Frozen first. Don’t walk around to other themes because you might miss them.

5. Download the Disneyland app

It notifies you of the waiting time for each ride and that will allow you to plan your route well.

6. Things to bring

If you are bringing a toddler or baby with you, bring a stroller. One of the best decisions I made. The park isn’t that big, but for children, it is big. Bring your own water bottle as that saves you a lot.

What rides and shows do you need to go?

1. Frozen Ever After

If you are into Frozen, this is one of the rides that you must take. Be aware that it involves a forward plunge but the whole narrative in the castle was worth it.

2. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!

A simple ride that puts your precision and shooting skills to the test. An easy game where adults and children would love it.

3. Cinderella Carousel

A no-brainer game but my kids loved it. The waiting time was just five minutes, so it was okay.

4. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

I love this ride. The animated visuals were so interactive and the colors are so striking.

5. Mickey and the Wondrous Book

This cannot be missed! I went there twice and the 28 minutes spent was worthwhile. You will see Ariel singing as well as Rapunzel. Oops, even Elsa will be there too.

In Toy Story Land, all the rides are so much fun, including the Slinky Dog Spin. I have no idea why it is so fun, perhaps the whole theme is vibrant, inviting us to keep playing there.

What about the Lion King show? Personally, I didn’t enjoy it and found it a little boring. Maybe it’s just not for me.

And if you are into Disney fairy tales, princes, and princesses, join the queue to the Royal Banquet Hall and take photos with them. It could be Cinderella, Prince Charming, or some other princess or prince. As for me, I took a photo with Prince Charming and a princess.
