Beufort Noodles in Kota Kinabalu: A Local Favorite Worth Discovering

Kota Kinabalu has quickly become one of my most frequented destinations. Beyond my previous post on the Top 10 Must-Eat Spots in KotaKinabalu, I’ve continued to uncover more hidden gems—and one of them is the humble yet beloved Beaufort Noodles.

This eatery isn’t flashy or upscale, but it’s packed with charm and flavor. Regularly visited by locals, it’s the kind of place where the menu is simple and everyone knows exactly what they’re coming for. Thanks to my local friends, I got to experience it like a true Sabahan.

The first dish to arrive was a plate of Choy Sum, and wow—there’s something about the vegetables in Kota Kinabalu that tastes extra fresh and vibrant. I couldn’t help but wonder if it was the secret sauce that elevated the flavor. Generously portioned and perfectly cooked, it was a green dish I didn’t regret indulging in.

Then came the star of the show: Beaufort Noodles, served in two distinct styles.

1. Wantan Hor Style Beaufort Noodles

The noodles are wok-fried first, giving them a delicious charred aroma known locally as wok hei. Loaded with tender pork slices, flavorful char siew, and fresh greens. Verdict: Rich, smoky, and deeply satisfying. My personal favorite!

2. Dry Beaufort Noodles

A simpler version without the charred aroma.
Mild in flavor, making it perfect for kids or those who prefer a lighter taste. Still packed with pork and greens, but more straightforward in presentation.

Will I Return?
Absolutely! The wantan hor-style Beaufort noodles stole my heart with their bold flavors and comforting broth. If you’re in Kota Kinabalu and craving something local, hearty, and soul-warming, this spot is a must-try.
