I recently stumbled upon Kopitiam 95 (New) after seeing a post about the famous Bunga Raya Popiah Melaka food truck making an appearance here. Naturally, I was excited and decided to check it out.
Arriving early at around 10 AM, I couldn’t find any sign of the popiah stall. After a quick check on Facebook, I realized it only opens at 12 PM—what a letdown!
Since I was already there, I took the opportunity to explore their kopitiam offerings. Having previously enjoyed meals at Tiam Fu Kopitiam, I was curious to see how this spot compares. Here’s my verdict:
1. Pork Noodles with additional meat (RM21)
Surprisingly good! The broth was flavorful and rich, with a satisfying depth of taste. While the price is slightly on the higher side, the quality made it worthwhile.
2. Wantan Mee (RM10)
Wantan mee can be hit or miss. When this arrived, we were initially disappointed by the small portion—just a few pieces of char siu. Compared to what we’ve had at Kopitiam PJ, the portion here felt underwhelming. Thankfully, the taste delivered—it was decent and enjoyable overall.
3. Mee Hoon Kueh (RM9)
This unfortunately did not suit my preference. The noodles were too thin and lacked the chewy, handmade texture you’d expect, likely machine-cut. The anchovies were also quite hard, and the broth was just average.
Overall Verdict
Kopitiam 95 (new) is a decent spot for a quick breakfast fix in Setia Alam. While not every dish impressed, there are still some highlights worth trying. Next time, I’ll definitely time my visit better to catch the Bunga Raya Popiah Melaka stall!
