Before visiting Hong Kong, I was under the impression that the city didn't have much to offer when it came to food. But I was completely wrong! My friend took me to some truly amazing places, and I was left in awe of the culinary wonders this vibrant city has to offer.

After several days of food hunting, I compiled a list of eight must-visit spots you absolutely need to try when you're in Hong Kong. Trust me, you'll be thanking me for these tips and recommendations later!

1. Chorland Cookfood Stall

I had heard that there’s always a queue at Chorland Cookfood Stall, but luck was on my side—there was no queue when I visited on a Monday! I was enchanted by the shop’s interior, marveling at its unique charm and feeling immersed in Hong Kong culture. We ordered several signature dishes, and they truly exceeded expectations. The pork lard rice was heavenly—sinful, but oh-so-delicious. The steamed chicken was fragrant and smooth, while the vegetables were exceptionally fresh. And the grilled corn? Absolutely outstanding! Every dish is made for a deeply satisfying meal.

2. Hesheeat

The desserts in hesheeat are fantastic! Though I wasn’t initially a fan of ice shakes, their strawberry ice shake completely changed my mind. This isn’t just any ordinary ice shake; it has a subtle milk flavor that beautifully complements the overall dessert. Hats off to Hesheeat for creating such a delightful treat!

3. Kwan Kee Claypot Rice 

Kwan Kee Claypot Rice shop is quite small, so we had to wait in line for a while. The menu is packed with choices, and we opted for the eel claypot rice and the chicken claypot rice. What makes these dishes special is the layer of perfectly charred rice at the bottom, adding a smoky richness to every spoonful. Truly an unforgettable dining experience!

4. Lan Fong Yuen

Located in Central, this historic shop, Lan Fong Yuen is a gem. Once again, luck favored me, and I didn’t have to queue. We originally planned to share a plate of toasted bread, a polo bun, and a serving of pork chop noodles among the three of us. But the taste was so exceptional that we doubled our order! The toasted bread, in particular, surprised me—it was simply incredible.

5. Vission Bakery 

I stumbled upon Vission Bakery through TikTok, and I’m so glad I did. Their pistachio Danish is a showstopper—it looks stunning, smells amazing, and tastes divine. A true highlight for pastry lovers!

6. Tai Cheong Bakery 

As a fan of traditional egg tarts, I must say Tai CheongBakery does them justice. The egg tarts here are delicious—perfectly creamy and wonderfully baked. A must-try!

7. Bakehouse

Another egg tart experience, but with a twist—Bakehouse offers sourdough egg tarts. They’re unique and delicious in their own way. However, if I had to pick between the egg tarts from Tai Cheong Bakery and Bakehouse, I’d lean toward Tai Cheong Bakery’s version.

8. One Dim Sum

This Michelin-starred One Dim Sum restaurant was an absolute treat. Their porridge, siu mai, and har gow were all incredibly fresh and flavorful. Every bite was pure joy, and I ate with the enthusiasm of a true foodie!

Overall, my Hong Kong trip was incredible! The food, the people I met, and the place I went, including Hong Kong Disneyland, was really a charm!
